I built this because I couldn’t find a good way to train archery shot placement for hunting. There are many articles and posts across the internet that explain how to think about it and even have helpful diagrams.
But understanding doesn’t immediately translate to doing, especially with a dynamic three-dimensional problem with many variables. Much like a pilot training for emergency scenarios, to really train shot placement, you need repetitions making the relevant decisions in different scenarios with realistic variables. That is what this simulator does for you. It gives you the repetitions it might otherwise take you a lifetime to accumulate.
This is a prototype product. I decided to publish the thing I built for myself to see if others find it useful. If they do, I’ll keep working on it. That means fixing issues, adding new features, expanding variables, diversifying scenarios, new animals etc.
If/what I build will be based on the feedback I receive.
Enjoy!
Every arrow is forward-simulated with gravity and drag from a sighted-in bow — the same pin you'd hold in the field.
Uphill, downhill, and crosswind shots behave like real life — learn the angle-compensated hold and how to read the wind.
Sculpted heart, lungs, liver, and bone. See exactly what your arrow hit and why it was — or wasn't — a clean, ethical shot.
